Howie Carr: FBI head Christopher Wray, an innovative master in the art of stonewalling

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 07:58:45 GMT

Donald Trump said this weekend that it was “probably” a mistake for him to appoint Christopher Wray as director of the FBI.Probably?Of all the terrible appointments Trump made, Wray has to be at the top of the list.Wray is nothing more than a Deep State operative with a badge, continuing to operate the sinister FBI as the Democrat party’s own Gestapo. But Wray has accomplished one thing — he has taken the art of stonewalling under oath to previously unknown levels. It used to be that when a thug didn’t want to answer an embarrassing question, his only real option was to cite his Fifth Amendment rights. Every gangster carried with him a dog-eared card he could always pull out in a courtroom:“I respectfully declines to answer dat dere question on da grounds dat it might tend to incriminate me…”It was left to Billy Bulger, the Democrat brother of a serial-killing Democrat gangster, to elevate the dummying-up routine to a new level. In 2003, called before Congress to testify under o...

Ask Amy: I worked hard for my degree, and my mother-in-law turned it into a joke

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 07:58:45 GMT

Dear Amy: I recently graduated with my master’s.My mother and mother-in-law flew separately to my graduation from the other side of the country.I am grateful they both came, but while my MIL was here she made repeated comments that I felt put down my degree. She said that my graduation ceremony was really for my husband because he supported me through school. While he did work full time to support us, I also worked while attending school full time. She gave him a graduation gift, as well as a shirt that said, “I survived my wife’s graduate degree.”I was shocked and hurt by this, and she kept encouraging him to wear it on my actual graduation day.I found the shirt offensive because it trivialized my accomplishment into something that was apparently extremely difficult for him. After the fact, I told my husband (through tears) how I felt. He told me that while he could see my point, it was just a joke. For the remainder of the visit, she continued to ask him to wear the ...

How is Meta axing 21,000 employees connected to more and more doctors wondering if they have to unionize? And how is this all related to Donald Trump taking a government map of Hurricane Dorian’s projected path in 2020 and scrawling on it with a Sharpie? The answer is that America’s owners have opened a new front in their battle against everyone else, declaring war on the class of technocrats who once were their greatest allies. In Adam Smith’s famed 1776 disquisition on economics, “The Wealth of Nations,” he ponders the behavior of the “great proprietors” of feudalism. They owned the most valuable property available — i.e., land — and with their income from this property suppo...
